In this study we examined and modified The Scale of self-presentation on social network. The original scale derived from the “Self-Presentation on Facebook Questionnaire” by Michikyan et al. Theoretical framework consisted of the identity concept by Erickson E. and the self-discrepancy theory by Higgins E. Self-presentation on social network is assumed to include three selves: real, ideal, and false. The aim of the study was to create a tool for self-presentation analysis irrespective of a preferred social network. Therefore, the original questions were modified. The study involved 478 undergraduate students using social network, aged 18 to 26. The model including five characteristics of self-presentation failed to fit, whereas the two characteristics model showed sufficient indexes. The final scale consisted of two sub-scales: Real demonstrative self and False deceiving self. Real demonstrative self referred to the presentation of a real image with the desire to exhibit different facets of a personality. The False deceiving self was associated with the desire to present an unrealistic image that is different from reality. The scales demonstrated high reliability. The sub-scales were shown to examine different facets of self-presentation on social network based on discriminant validity. External validity was confirmed based on the perfectionistic self-presentation scale and the self-monitoring scale. The Real demonstra-tive self scale was related to the characteristics of a perfectionistic and public self-presentation. The False deceiving scale was associated with the avoidance of imperfection and orientation on others.
